India win Austrlia in 3rd ODI

In the third one day international of hero honda cup 2009, India proved their supremacy over Australia by winning the visitors with a 5 wicket margin. India recorded their biggest win in terms of wickets against Australia in 3rd ODI at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.Yuvraj Singh and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni produced scintillating knocks on a tricky track as India recovered from early jolts to spank Australia by six wickets in the third cricket one-dayer and take a 2-1 lead in the seven-match series here on Saturday.

Australia won the toss and elects to bat first. Australia set the target of 230 runs after loosing 5 wickets. India started their innings very slowly and India's first wicket in 37 overs as the score Virender Sehwag fell. Sehwag made 11 and bowled Johnson. After that The game was evenly balanced mid way during the chase with India in consolidation mode at 101 for 3, but Yuvraj and Dhoni slowly and surely pulled India ahead. Happy Gandhi Jayanthi

" In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth."

The wonderful quote that is mentioned above is said by the Indian father, " The Great Mahatma Gandhi", the lovable person who followed non violence policy to help India get freedom. The Great mahatma is well known for his principles and honesty. The man with a lion heart who fought for the freedom of India. The whole of India is celebrating Gandhiji's birthday today!

"Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well."

He lived his life in a simple way but has enabled us to lead a independent happy life. I would like to thank him from my heart for jis wonderful service to our nation. It is the duty of every indian citizen to follow the path shown by the legend. Wish you all a very happy Gandhi Jayanthi. Jai Hind!

Poor Start by India in ICC Champions Trophy

ICC Champions Trophy has commenced and there is no doubt that it is going to be a treat to all cricket fans. Indian players suffering from injuries include the big names like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan. As a result their absence has been clearly shown in the first battle by india against pakistan. Pakistan having won the toss decided to bat first.

It was a wonderful partnership between Mohammaad Yousuf and Shoib Malik that enabled pakistan to post a huge score of over 300 runs. India went in to chase a big total. India lost wickets at regular intervals. The colapse started when the most respected and hopeful Indian Batsman Sachin Tendulkar has fallen prey to the young aamar. India was in no position to win this battle.

Then Raina gave a light of hope but he was dismissed after a quick fire 40 runs. The fall of wickets continued and at last it was a comprehensive victory for pakistan by 54 runs. Can India bounce back to make it to the top four spot. It is a pathetic question to all Indian cricket lovers. Lets hope for the best.

Chandrayan1 Discovers Water on Moon

Chandrayan1 is India's maiden lunar mission and it has turned out to be successful as the probe has given out photographs that ensures the presence of water on the surface of the moon. The discovery of water is significant not only for reasons of science. Barstow said if the moon had a sufficient quantity of water, then it would be possible to "unlock that water" and set up a processing plant. Barstow was particularly excited over the prospects of the US now reviving its lunar exploration programme, saying there is a "huge amount of science to be done" on the moon implications for the Mars exploration programme as well.

Space scientists are looking at the moon as place for 'acclimatisation' -- a short-haul destination in space to help prepare for longer space flights and exploration programmes, such as the one for Mars, which is a two-year return flight. "The moon is within easy reach. It takes only a few days to reach and a lunar programme could help us in the process of learning to live and work in very inhospitable environments," Barstow told IANS. "The moon is a pretty hostile place, and exploring it is one way to learn how we can move about the solar system. "There is a lot of science left to be done on the moon itself. There have only been half a dozen moon landings and very little actual exploration. We need to understand more about the formation of the moon."

Barstow, whose university works closely with Indian space scientists in Bangalore and supplies instruments to the Indian Astrosat programme, said the Chandrayaan-1 finding showed that India had begun to play a vital role in the global space exploration agenda.

History of Chennai

Chennai is one of the most prominent city as far as India is concerned. It is well known fact that chennai is formerly known as madras. Chennai situated in Tamilnadu is India's fourth largest city. Chennai, originally known as Chennapatnam, was located in the province of Tondaimandalam, an area lying between Pennar river of Nellore and the Pennar river of Cuddalore. The capital of the province was Kancheepuram. Tondaimandalam was ruled in the 2nd century A.D. by Tondaiman Ilam Tiraiyan, who was a representative of the Chola family at Kanchipuram.

It is believed that Ilam Tiraiyan must have subdued the Kurumbas, the original inhabitants of the region and established his rule over Tondaimandalam. Chennai is a city which has grown by merging numerous villages which are really ancient. The temples of Thiruvanmiyur, Thiruvotriyur, Thirvallikeni , Thirumyilai have existed for more than 1000 years. The Pallavas held sway over this region from the beginning of the 3rd century A.D. to the closing years of the 9th century, except for the interval of some decades when the region was under the Kalabhras. The Pallavas were defeated by the Cholas under Aditya I by about 879 A.D. and the region was brought under the Chola rule.

The Pandyas under Jatavarman Sundara Pandyan rose to power and the region was brought under the Pandya rule by putting an end to Chola supremacy in 1264 A.D. Pandya's rule over this region lasted a little over half a century followed by the Bahmini kingdom with the extension of Delhi Sultanate under Khilji dynasty especially under the rule of Alauddin Khilji. During 1361, Kumara Kampana II, the son of Vijayanagar Emperor, Bukka I conquered and established Vijayanagar rule in Tondaimandalam.

History of chennai is quite fantastic. This is just a gist.. Still a lot more.

Viru In or Out?

After a long hiatus due to injuries, Indian dasher Virender Sehwag has clearly expressed his views that he is very much keen to play ICC champions Trophy 09. The shoulder injury that creeped on him during the second season of IPL has kept him out of international cricket for almost more than a couple of months.

Viru was in the Indian squad for the World T20 Cup in England but could not play any part because of the injury to his right shoulder that needed surgery. Sehwag underwent a surgery on June 11 after a lesion was identified in the injured shoulder and he was ruled out of action from between 12 to 16 weeks. The lesion was expected to heal in six weeks. Indian team's physio Nitin Patel was given the task of monitoring Sehwag's rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.Sehwag said he will start batting practice from the first week of September and is now able to lift 10 kg with his injured shoulder.

Let us all hope that Viru recovers soon as everyone is aware of the fact that he is one of the most devastating cricketer in any form of the game. As an Indian i feel that Viru will recover soon to play the ICC Champions Trophy 2009! Get well Viru!

Shruti Hasan in Bollywood???

Hi Friends... this is really a very interesting and unexpected news. I just want to share with you all. It seems that Shruti Haasan, the lovely daughter of the great indian actor kamal hasan, is on her way to bollywood as a heroine within a month’s time from now through ‘Luck’. The 23-year old multi-faceted girl has amazing talents like dancing, singing and composing to match her stunning looks. Her first Bollywood hero incidentally happens to be her childhood buddy who considers her as a ‘little sister’, giggles Shruti.

Shruti feels quite shy to act in front of the camera when her father is around. She concedes that she won’t mind donning bikini if the sequence demands but says that her father shouldn’t be part of the film where she exposes. Only an hourglass figure is the pre-requirement to don a bikini, she feels. Shruti is also busy composing music for her father’s film ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan”, a remake of the Bollywood movie ‘A Wednesday’.

Let us wish her the very all best for her future!

Century at Chennai - The best

SachinTendulkar rates his century at M.A. Chidambaram stadium at chennai as his best knock ever. This century was just some time after 26/11 attack. "I think the one against England in Chennai last year," says sachin, without hesitation when asked about his most important innings played so far for India.

"After what happened in Mumbai, the mood of the entire nation was low. Something was needed to put smiles on people's faces. I am by no means suggesting that the people who lost near and dear ones could forget their terrible loss, but if we as a team were able to make them smile for just a couple of seconds, that was an achievement," The Independent quoted Tendulkar, as saying. "And thanks to the England cricket team who came back very graciously and played against us. You know, cricket in India brings the entire nation together, from the poorest child to a billionaire. We are in a position to make everyone happy, which is very special for me and the whole cricketing fraternity," he said.

He pointed other innings which he considered important were played during his school days. "I would say that there were a couple in my schooldays that changed my life. In the semi-final of an Under-17s tournament I scored 326 not out, which is when everyone in Mumbai took notice of me. I then scored 346 not out in the final, with Dilip Vengsarkar and Sunil Gavaskar watching."

Will Viru's absence affect India?

Virender Sehwag, one of the most explosive indian batsman, is out of the ICC World Twenty20. Sehwag with his fine form has given a lot of good starts to India. But it was totally a bad news when Indian team manager V. Chamundeswarnath at Trent Bride on Tuesday revealed Sehwag injury. Sehwag batted for two overs at the nets on Tuesday and felt some pain in his shoulder.

Although the Indian team management refused to commit itself on the aggressive opener’s place in the squad during a stormy pre-match press conference, a BCCI release confirmed that Sehwag would indeed be flying back. Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 due to a shoulder injury. He will return to India after consulting medical experts in England. Sehwag’s replacement will be Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik. Karthik was in fine form with the willow for Delhi Daredevils during IPL Season-II in South Africa.

Election - UPA ahead of NDA?

UPA, led by Congress Party, will make major gains in Left-ruled West Bengal and Kerala as well as in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra to emerge as the leading alliance with around 215 seats - 40 more than the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), states an NDTV exit poll.

The NDTV poll survey, on a sample size of 71,500 respondents across India, says the Congress will cross the 160 mark, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will get around 130. The Left-led Third Front will cross the 100 mark. However, the communists will suffer a setback in Kerala and West Bengal, - dropping below 35 seats from the 60 in the 14th Lok Sabha, the poll done in the GfK. In its bastion of West Bengal, the communists will lose 13 seats to the Congress and its ally, the Trinamool Congress, while in Kerala, the Left will lose seven seats and the UPA will gain nine seats.

In Uttar Pradesh, the UPA will gain four seats, but the Fourth Front (Samajwadi Party) will lose 12 seats. The NDA will lose in most states, or maintain status quo, except in Bihar where it will do remarkably well - gaining 22 seats. In contrast, the Fourth Front (Rashtriya Janata Dal and others) will lose 21 seats in the state.

In Tamil Nadu, the UPA will lose six seats, while the Third Front (AIADMK) will gain five seats.
In Maharashtra, the NDA will lose six seats, while the UPA will gain seven. In Rajasthan, NDA will lose nine while the UPA will gain eight, the survey says.

US Says no jobs for Indians?

The recession which has declined the world economy has forced obama to ultimate stress.Last November, Abhimanyu Gupta, an MBA student in New York University’s Stern School of Business, was on the top of the world when he landed a job offer from Bank of America’s investment banking division. This February , he felt right at the bottom of the abyss as the bank withdrew the offer and Mr Gupta’s world crashed just like the global markets.

Now, the 27-year-old chartered accountant, who left Mumbai in 2007 to become an investment banker in the world’s financial capital, plans to return home if he doesn’t get an offer by June when his course ends. With five months of recruitment time gone, Mr Gupta concedes that his chances of finding similar job in the US, which is battling the worst downturn in decades, are bleak. His chances are as bleak as hundreds of other Indian and foreign national students across top universities in the US, UK and other western economies, who now plan to go back home.

According to a recent study by the University of California, Berkeley, almost 84% of Indian students and 76% Chinese students in the US think it will be difficult to find a job in their field in the country. Even lenders are tightening the noose on international students. First-year MBA students, who were relying on loans from US banks to fund their second-year expenses, are in trouble because the banks have stopped lending to international students without co-signers .

The US has been in recession for 18 straight months now and has lost 5.1 million jobs so far. The world’s largest economy shrunk 6.1% yearon-year in the first quarter of 2009, following a 6.3% decline in the last quarter of 2008. A recovery is unlikely before the end of the year even in a best-case scenario.

Indian economy, which has seen a slowdown after growing at over 9% for three years, is still expected to grow at a healthy pace of 6-7 % in the current fiscal. India and China , the other emerging giant, are expected to bounce back faster and drive a global recovery. In fact, according to the University of California study that surveyed 1,224 foreign nationals from India, China and Western Europe, almost 86% Indian students and 74% of Chinese students believe their home countries’ economies will grow faster in the future than they have in the past decade.

While it may be easier for these students to find jobs in India, salaries here are not very attractive for most of them who are sitting on huge education loans. An MBA in a top western university costs anywhere between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh. Also, many Indian students in the US are married and have families to support.

Lankan Forces and Tamil Tigers

Sri Lankan forces battled Tamil Tiger insurgents from three sides pushing deeper into rebel-held territory amid a report that navy gunboats heavily shelled an area packed with civilians. With concerns growing for the tens of thousands of civilians trapped in the war zone, a new round of international officials came to Colombo to meet with the government. Another 200,000 civilians who already fled the fighting have overwhelmed displacement camps in the north.

The military said it captured an earthen fortification from the rebels in heavy fighting Sunday along the borders of the 2.8-mile-long coastal strip remaining under rebel control. Troops pushed further forward. Troops are moving slowly into the area from the west, the north and the south. The government has vowed to crush the rebel group and end the country's quarter-century civil war. Out of deference for the civilians in the war zone, the government promised last week to cease using artillery, mortar fire and airstrikes.

However, health officials in the region have reported continued shelling, including an attack on a makeshift hospital that killed 64 patients and bystanders Saturday. The hospital was nearly hit again Sunday night, when shells landed around 300 feet. Navy gunboats also fired scores of shells along the coast Monday morning as desperately hungry families crowded the shore to buy fish from returning fishermen.

There were no accurate counts of the dead and wounded because the hospital's registrar was wounded herself in the attack on the hospital. The military has repeatedly denied shelling the area, saying troops are using only small arms in the battle. Many in the area are struggling for food, and several elderly people are dying everyday from starvation.

India Urges SriLanka

India has reiterated that Sri Lanka capture Tamil Tigers chief Velupillai Prabhakaran alive and extradite him to India, sources in the external affairs ministry. 'India will continue to request that Prabhakaran be caught alive. At the same time, New Delhi is aware that Colombo will hand him over only after trying him in Sri Lanka for the crimes he has committed in that country, the source pointed out.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa said would extradite Prabhakaran, if caught alive, to India - but after first putting him through trial in his country. In an interview to CNN IBN channel, Rajapaksa said it was 'almost over' for the LTTE chief and he could be caught very soon.

Asked whether Prabhakaran would be extradited to India, Rajapaksa said: 'First he will have to go through our trial... And then might send him to India.''Why should I keep him... India has the right... a man who is responsible for killing Rajiv Gandhi of the greatest leaders.

A Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber had blown up Gandhi during a poll rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu in May 1991.The sources also said that as the Sri Lanka military ceased its combat operations against the LTTE, its conventional capabilities had been hit but its command and control systems remained intact. Thus, there was a possibility of suicide bombings in Sri Lanka in the wake of the operations against the Tigers.

'India is still very concerned about the civilian population in the no-combat zone. We will step up our humanitarian assistance to the Tamil civilians by sending shipments of food, medicine and other essential supplies,' the source said.

The Mercy Angel

Hello Friends i would like to remind you "The Mercy" . Mother Teresa spent most of her life time in serving the poor and needy... Mother Teresa's words that inspired me a lot is, "“By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus”

By the 1970s she had become internationally famed as a humanitarian and advocate for the poor and helpless, due in part to a documentary, and book, Something Beautiful for God by Malcolm Muggeridge. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and India's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1980 for her humanitarian work. Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity continued to expand, and at the time of her death it was operating 610 missions in 123 countries, including hospices and homes for people with HIV, leprosy and tuberculosis, soup kitchens, children's and family counseling programs, orphanages, and schools.

This post is dedicated to MOTHER TERESA who's soul might be watching this post... MOTHER! You may not be in this world now but i wanted to remind you that you will live in our heart forever.. A BIG SALUTE TO ALL YOUR SERVICES... BLESS US ALL.
