The Age of Dinosaurs

It is widely believed that dinosaurs ruled the earth some 160 million years ago. Is that true??? Had dinosaurs really existed???? Let's examine it now. Dinosaur is the name of a group of prehistoric reptiles. These animals died out millions of years ago, but they have fascinated people ever since they were first described in the early 1800's. The name dinosaur comes from the term Dinosauria, which means terrible lizards. But dinosaurs were not lizards, only distantly related to them, and most were not very terrible.

For many years, people thought that dinosaurs were clumsy, slow-moving, unintelligent creatures that lived much like modern reptiles. However, fossil evidence suggests that some dinosaurs—especially small theropods—were much more active and intelligent than previously thought. In addition, scientists generally agree that small theropods are the closest known relatives to birds. Thus, scientists can learn much about the life of dinosaurs by studying birds and other modern animals that have some similarity to dinosaurs.

While dinosaurs ruled the land during the Mesozoic Era, many kinds of large reptiles inhabited the sea and air. Sea-dwelling reptiles included ichthyosaurs , which resembled dolphins in shape and probably could swim fast. Mosasaurs enormous sea lizards that lived during the late Cretaceous Period, which ended about 65 million years ago. They grew up to 30 feet long. Plesiosaurs had four large flippers and a short tail. Many plesiosaurs also had an extremely long neck.

Flying reptiles called pterosaurs became the first vertebrates to evolve flapping flight, the kind of flight later used by most birds. Each of a pterosaur's wings consisted of a membrane of skin supported by a long finger made of hollow bones. Pterosaurs had no feathers, but hairlike structures probably covered their bodies. Some pterosaurs ranked as the largest flying animals of all time, reaching a wingspan of 40 feet .

Lovely Miami Beach

Hello Friends! In this post i would like to speak on the World's longest and most popular beach "Miami beach". Miami Beach is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The city is often referred to under the umbrella term of "Miami," despite being a distinct municipality. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 87,933. 55.5% of the population was foreign born. A 2005 population estimate for the city was 87,925. Miami Beach has been one of America's pre-eminent beach resorts for almost a century.

South Beach (also known as SoBe, or simply The Beach the area from 1st street to about 25th street) is one of the more popular areas of Miami Beach. Topless sunbathing is tolerated on certain designated areas of the beach. Before the TV show Miami Vice helped make the area popular, SoBe was under urban blight, with vacant buildings and a high crime rate. Today, it is considered one of the richest commercial areas on the beach, yet poverty and crime still remain in some places near the area. Miami Beach, particularly Ocean Drive of what is now the Art Deco District, was also featured prominently in the 1983 feature film Scarface and the Birdcage.

The New World Symphony Orchestra is based in Miami Beach, Florida, under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas.

Art Of Yoga

Everybody must clearly understand the term "Yoga". It is nothing but traditional and mental disciplines. According to me, i would recommend everyone to practice yoga which rejuvenates our spirit and makes us strong both in heart and mind. Yoga stimulates our physical organs and ensures better health on a long term.

Ancient Yogis had a belief that in order for man to be in harmony with himself and his environment, he has to integrate the body, the mind, and the spirit. For these three to be integrated, emotion, action, and intelligence must be in balance. The Yogis formulated a way to achieve and maintain this balance and it is done through exercise, breathing, and Meditation - the three main Yoga structures.

In Yoga, the body is treated with care and respect for it is the primary instrument in man's work and growth. Yoga Exercises improve circulation, stimulate the abdominal organs, and put pressure on the glandular system of the body, which can generally result to better health.
I would like to just give an essence of the six branches of yoga:

1. Hatha Yoga - Yoga of Postures - It ensures peaceful mind and physical strength

2. Bhakti Yoga - Yoga of Devotion - Teaches Devotion and Love

3. Raja Yoga - Yoga of Self-Control - Teaches Discipline and self-control

4. Jnana Yoga - Yoga of Mind - Increases Concentration and Intelligence

5. Karma Yoga - Yoga of Service - Teaches Good and Selfless Sttitude

6. Tantra Yoga - Yoga of Rituals - Teaches Dedication, Purity, Truthfulness

External Relationship

The security adviser of North Korea indicated that they are in need of better relationships with the United States of America. Clinton met with North Korea's reclusive leader, Kim Jong-il, in Pyongyang while on a mission to retrieve two American journalists who had been held in the communist-ruled Asian nation. He was the highest-level American to meet Kim in almost a decade.

Korea is very much eager to have better ties with USA. The Obama administration is trying to coax North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons ambitions while at the same time saying it wants to enforce U.N. resolutions to ensure North Korea's weapons of mass destruction are not spread. So let us all hope that the relationship between the two countries go stronger.

In my point of view i always feel that any country should focus on maintaining a good standard relationship with the neighboring foreign countries. These relationships are quite essential in improving a country's international status. So it is pretty clear that every nation must always concentrate in removing the barriers with another nation and look forward to have a strong healthy relationship.

Vaughan announces his retirement

England's most successful test captain Michael Vaughan, well known for his excellent leadership qualities, told that he was retiring from the game, after failing to regain his place in the team for next month's Ashes series against Australia. "It has been a hard decision," Vaughan, 34, told a news conference at Edgbaston.

"The decision came to me two weeks ago. I thought about it in December but I wanted to give myself one last chance of playing against Australia but I haven't been playing well enough and my body is not reacting how I would like it to be." Vaughan, who has been troubled by a chronic knee injury, has not played for his country since resigning as captain last year and passed 50 only three times in 22 innings for Yorkshire.

He was forced to leave the field frequently to rest his troubled knee, raising fresh doubts about his ability to last a five-day test. Vaughan made his test debut for England during the 1999-2000 tour of South Africa and quickly established himself in the team, scoring his maiden test century in 2001 against Pakistan. However, the knee injuries that were to plague his career surfaced in 2001 and he was ruled out of the entire home Ashes series that was won convincingly by Australia.

After more knee problems he returned in time for the 2002-03 Ashes series in Australia, making 177 on the first day of the second test in Adelaide and 145 in Melbourne, knocks that helped him to rise to the top of the International Cricket Council (ICC) batting rankings. In July 2003 Vaughan took over the England captaincy from Nasser Hussain, beginning what was to become the most successful reign of an England skipper with a 2-2 home draw with South Africa despite his own lack of form with the bat.

Vaughan led by example in Sri Lanka later that year when he batted for seven-and-a-half hours to score 105, his first test century as captain and an innings that enabled England to save the second test in Kandy. He then led England to their first series victory in the West Indies for 30 years, but the moment that defined his captaincy of England came in 2005 when he outsmarted opposite number Ricky Ponting to win back the Ashes.

Century at Chennai - The best

SachinTendulkar rates his century at M.A. Chidambaram stadium at chennai as his best knock ever. This century was just some time after 26/11 attack. "I think the one against England in Chennai last year," says sachin, without hesitation when asked about his most important innings played so far for India.

"After what happened in Mumbai, the mood of the entire nation was low. Something was needed to put smiles on people's faces. I am by no means suggesting that the people who lost near and dear ones could forget their terrible loss, but if we as a team were able to make them smile for just a couple of seconds, that was an achievement," The Independent quoted Tendulkar, as saying. "And thanks to the England cricket team who came back very graciously and played against us. You know, cricket in India brings the entire nation together, from the poorest child to a billionaire. We are in a position to make everyone happy, which is very special for me and the whole cricketing fraternity," he said.

He pointed other innings which he considered important were played during his school days. "I would say that there were a couple in my schooldays that changed my life. In the semi-final of an Under-17s tournament I scored 326 not out, which is when everyone in Mumbai took notice of me. I then scored 346 not out in the final, with Dilip Vengsarkar and Sunil Gavaskar watching."

July 22 - Total Solar Ecplise

On july 22 wednesday morning the total solar eclipse of this century is going to occur. This infact is the longest duration solar eclipse of this century. This eclipse is of special interest for the scientists and general public as its path of totality passes through thickly populated regions of west, central, east and north-east India. The maximum duration of totality of 6 minutes 44 seconds occurs at 8:05 a.m. in the North Pacific Ocean where the width of the path is about 258 km. The 'rest of the path does not pass through major land areas.

Consequently, it provides a rare opportunity to view and study this grand spectacle of nature. The partial phase of the eclipse will be visible throughout the country. In general, the partial phase can be seen in the regions of eastern Asia and Pacific Ocean. Considering the Earth as a whole, the eclipse begins at 5:28 a.m. when the shadow of the Moon touches the Earth at local sunrise at a point in the Arabian Sea close to the western coast of India.

The eclipse ends at 10:42 a.m. when Moon's shadow finally leaves the Earth at local sunset at a point in the South Pacific Ocean. At approximately 6:23 a.m., the central path of the eclipse will touch the Earth at sunrise at a point in the Gulf of Khmbhat in the Arabian Sea near the southern coast of Gujarat. At this time, the path of totality will be about 200 km wide and the duration of totality at the central line will be about three minute 30 seconds.

The shadow crosses over central India, passes through south-east of Nepal, crosses North Bengal, southern part of Sikkim, most of Bhutan and north-western tip of Bangladesh. Then the shadow enters Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, touches Myanmar and enters China.

Cloud Computing!

OPERA has released a new Web Browser “Opera Unite”. It uses Cloud Computing Technology.Opera Unite allows you to easily share your data: photos, music, notes and other files. You can even run chat rooms and host entire Web sites with Opera Unite. It puts the power of a Web server in your browser, giving you greater privacy and flexibility than other online services.

Cloud computing is a style of computing in which dynamically scalable and often virtualised resources are provided as a service over the Internet. Users need not have knowledge of, expertise in, or control over the technology infrastructure in the "cloud" that supports them. The term cloud is used as a metaphor for the Internet, based on how the Internet is depicted in computer network diagrams and is an abstraction for the complex infrastructure it conceals.

With Opera 10, we are introducing a new technology called Opera Unite, radically extending what you are able to do online. Opera Unite harnesses the power of today’s fast connections and hardware, allowing all of us to help define the future landscape of the Web, one computer at a time. It's time to enjoy cloud computing!

Air France Crash Incident

Air France Plane Crash incident is now closely observed and those type of terrible incidents should never happen again. The Officials with France’s accident investigation bureau told reporters Wednesday the teams will be dedicated to finding the plane’s flight recorders and analyzing the history of the plane. However, they said they are not confident about finding the flight recorders deep in the Atlantic.

The head of the agency, Paul-Louis Arslanian, says there are no signs so far that the plane had problems before takeoff. Military planes from France and Brazil have been sent to the wreckage of Air France Flight 447, found Tuesday in the south Atlantic. The big Airbus A-330 disappeared from radar early Monday, about four hours after taking off from Rio de Janeiro Sunday night on its way to Paris.

Brazilian search planes spotted airplane seats, metal parts, and a jet fuel slick floating about 1,000 kilometers off Brazil’s northeast coast. There was no trace of any survivors. French investigators say an initial report into the crash is due at the end of the month. The cause of the crash remains a mystery. Before it vanished from radar, the plane transmitted automatic signals reporting multiple failures in its electric and pressurization systems.

Air traffic controllers heard no distress call or any other unusual message from the pilots, however. The plane’s flight path took it across an equatorial zone where weather systems collide and often spawn severe thunderstorms. Modern airliners usually have no trouble passing through such weather conditions.

Google Vs Microsoft!

Microsoft network cannot still go beyond the Google, the search engine giant, in the Internet search market. Its new Bing Internet search engine, which it showed publicly for the first time will still provide search results for any term an online user types into it. But Bing is initially designed to provide a much richer search experience for people looking for information in four categories: shopping, travel, health and local businesses.

The strategy could give Microsoft a shot at peeling away users from rival search engines in some popular search areas that also offer lucrative opportunities for selling related advertising. But even if Microsoft is successful, it still faces the problem that Google and Yahoo could simply duplicate Bing’s features. Search engines have a long history of copying each other’s interface changes. In recent years, for example, all of them have begun suggesting related search terms and blending more photos and videos into their search results. “If some particular feature becomes particularly popular, it wouldn’t be terribly difficult for Google to mimic that feature,” says Greg Sterling, an Internet analyst with Sterling Market Intelligence, a research firm.

Bing faces another challenge as well: Microsoft’s own research shows that more than 60% of consumers say they are satisfied with existing Internet search engines. That doesn’t bode well for the company’s efforts to eat into Google’s 64% share of the U.S. search market, which far outstrips Yahoo’s 20% share and Microsoft’s 8%, according to comScore Inc. Microsoft’s approach of going after the four search categories mirrors attempts others have made to compete with Google by building so-called “vertical” search engines, which specialize in showing results in categories where Google’s results are perceived to be weak.

Tree Plantation Drive by TATA Motors!

Tata Motors is looking forward to start a huge tree plantation drive across India and other south Asian countries on World Environment Day that falls on friday. 'The tree plantation drive is part of its endeavour to constantly improve its carbon footprint,' the spokesperson said, adding that the company has set itself a target of planting 200,000 saplings across over 1,100 locations in India and abroad this year, beginning June 5.

Tata Motors has already planted over 10 million trees.'This massive campaign is driven across the company - at plant locations, offices and its dealerships, authorised service centres, and spare parts distributors.' 'This massive campaign is driven across the company - at plant locations, offices and its dealerships, authorised service centres, and spare parts distributors.' In addition, the firm is also organising a free PUC (Pollution Under Control) check-up for its commercial vehicles Friday at over 100 service centres across the country. As part of the PUC check, emission related components would be checked and rectified.

It is great to know that even the business oriented companies are coming forward to spend their precious time on environmental issues. Let us wish their campaign to be a great success!

Melting Greenland

Due to increase in global temperature Greenland is melting at a faster rate and so it seems that it may drive more water to the coastlines of North eastern united states and Canada. If the Greenland melt continues to accelerate, we could see significant impacts this century on the northeast U.S. coast from the resulting sea level rise. Major northeastern cities are directly in the path of the greatest rise.

"To assess the impact of Greenland ice melt on ocean circulation, Hu and his coauthors used the Community Climate System Model, an NCAR-based computer model that simulates global climate. They considered three scenarios: the melt rate continuing to increase by 7 percent per year, as has been the case in recent years, or the melt rate slowing down to an increase of either 1 or 3 percent per year.

If Greenland's melt rate slows down to a 3 percent annual increase, the study team's computer simulations indicate that the runoff from its ice sheet could alter ocean circulation in a way that would direct about a foot of water toward the northeast coast of North America by 2100. This would be on top of the average global sea level rise expected as a result of global warming. Although the study team did not try to estimate that mean global sea level rise, their simulations indicated that melt from Greenland alone under the 3 percent scenario could raise worldwide sea levels by an average of 21 inches.

If the annual increase in the melt rate dropped to 1 percent, the runoff would not raise northeastern sea levels by more than the 8 inches in the earlier study in Nature Geoscience. But if the melt rate continued at its present 7 percent increase per year through 2050 and then leveled off, the study suggests that the northeast coast could see as much as 20 inches of sea level rise above a global average that could be several feet.

US Says no jobs for Indians?

The recession which has declined the world economy has forced obama to ultimate stress.Last November, Abhimanyu Gupta, an MBA student in New York University’s Stern School of Business, was on the top of the world when he landed a job offer from Bank of America’s investment banking division. This February , he felt right at the bottom of the abyss as the bank withdrew the offer and Mr Gupta’s world crashed just like the global markets.

Now, the 27-year-old chartered accountant, who left Mumbai in 2007 to become an investment banker in the world’s financial capital, plans to return home if he doesn’t get an offer by June when his course ends. With five months of recruitment time gone, Mr Gupta concedes that his chances of finding similar job in the US, which is battling the worst downturn in decades, are bleak. His chances are as bleak as hundreds of other Indian and foreign national students across top universities in the US, UK and other western economies, who now plan to go back home.

According to a recent study by the University of California, Berkeley, almost 84% of Indian students and 76% Chinese students in the US think it will be difficult to find a job in their field in the country. Even lenders are tightening the noose on international students. First-year MBA students, who were relying on loans from US banks to fund their second-year expenses, are in trouble because the banks have stopped lending to international students without co-signers .

The US has been in recession for 18 straight months now and has lost 5.1 million jobs so far. The world’s largest economy shrunk 6.1% yearon-year in the first quarter of 2009, following a 6.3% decline in the last quarter of 2008. A recovery is unlikely before the end of the year even in a best-case scenario.

Indian economy, which has seen a slowdown after growing at over 9% for three years, is still expected to grow at a healthy pace of 6-7 % in the current fiscal. India and China , the other emerging giant, are expected to bounce back faster and drive a global recovery. In fact, according to the University of California study that surveyed 1,224 foreign nationals from India, China and Western Europe, almost 86% Indian students and 74% of Chinese students believe their home countries’ economies will grow faster in the future than they have in the past decade.

While it may be easier for these students to find jobs in India, salaries here are not very attractive for most of them who are sitting on huge education loans. An MBA in a top western university costs anywhere between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh. Also, many Indian students in the US are married and have families to support.

Obama Trims 2010 Budget?

President Barack Obama is on the view to trim down 2010 budget by $17 billion from a 2010 budget that will still hover around $3.5 trillion. President Obama speaks during his 100-day anniversary news conference in the East Room of the White House. About half of the proposed cuts would come from the defense budget, and a total of 121 programs in areas including education would be trimmed or scrapped, one official told a conference call with reporters.

Even with the spending reductions, the White House's own estimates suggest the deficit will be $1.17 trillion next year. Congressional analysts believe the gap could be $1.4 trillion.Obama officials said the administration would look for further cuts in the 2010 fiscal year, which starts on October 1.This is an important first step but it's not the end of the process.Obama, who has vowed to cut the country's ballooning deficit in half by 2013, was widely panned last month when he challenged agencies to find $100 million in savings. Critics pointed out that was about equal to what the government spends in 13 minutes.

Congress has already passed a $3.4 trillion budget blueprint that will guide tax policy and government spending for the upcoming fiscal year. It embraces many of Obama's top priorities.
But the budget details the White House will release on Thursday, which build on a bare-bones outline the new president submitted to Congress on February 26, could have an impact on those individual spending bills that will wind their way through Congress in coming months.

Lankan Forces and Tamil Tigers

Sri Lankan forces battled Tamil Tiger insurgents from three sides pushing deeper into rebel-held territory amid a report that navy gunboats heavily shelled an area packed with civilians. With concerns growing for the tens of thousands of civilians trapped in the war zone, a new round of international officials came to Colombo to meet with the government. Another 200,000 civilians who already fled the fighting have overwhelmed displacement camps in the north.

The military said it captured an earthen fortification from the rebels in heavy fighting Sunday along the borders of the 2.8-mile-long coastal strip remaining under rebel control. Troops pushed further forward. Troops are moving slowly into the area from the west, the north and the south. The government has vowed to crush the rebel group and end the country's quarter-century civil war. Out of deference for the civilians in the war zone, the government promised last week to cease using artillery, mortar fire and airstrikes.

However, health officials in the region have reported continued shelling, including an attack on a makeshift hospital that killed 64 patients and bystanders Saturday. The hospital was nearly hit again Sunday night, when shells landed around 300 feet. Navy gunboats also fired scores of shells along the coast Monday morning as desperately hungry families crowded the shore to buy fish from returning fishermen.

There were no accurate counts of the dead and wounded because the hospital's registrar was wounded herself in the attack on the hospital. The military has repeatedly denied shelling the area, saying troops are using only small arms in the battle. Many in the area are struggling for food, and several elderly people are dying everyday from starvation.

India Urges SriLanka

India has reiterated that Sri Lanka capture Tamil Tigers chief Velupillai Prabhakaran alive and extradite him to India, sources in the external affairs ministry. 'India will continue to request that Prabhakaran be caught alive. At the same time, New Delhi is aware that Colombo will hand him over only after trying him in Sri Lanka for the crimes he has committed in that country, the source pointed out.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa said would extradite Prabhakaran, if caught alive, to India - but after first putting him through trial in his country. In an interview to CNN IBN channel, Rajapaksa said it was 'almost over' for the LTTE chief and he could be caught very soon.

Asked whether Prabhakaran would be extradited to India, Rajapaksa said: 'First he will have to go through our trial... And then might send him to India.''Why should I keep him... India has the right... a man who is responsible for killing Rajiv Gandhi of the greatest leaders.

A Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber had blown up Gandhi during a poll rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu in May 1991.The sources also said that as the Sri Lanka military ceased its combat operations against the LTTE, its conventional capabilities had been hit but its command and control systems remained intact. Thus, there was a possibility of suicide bombings in Sri Lanka in the wake of the operations against the Tigers.

'India is still very concerned about the civilian population in the no-combat zone. We will step up our humanitarian assistance to the Tamil civilians by sending shipments of food, medicine and other essential supplies,' the source said.

God Exists?

No one in the world has hardly seen God. But it cannot be concluded as that god does not exist and it is a pure imagination of our ancestors.

Everyone knows what is hot and what is cold? But according to scientific theory heat exists in different forms that may be little heat, super heat, mega heat, more heat, no heat but there is nothing called as cold. Simply to denote the absence of heat we say it as cold. This theory makes us think whether god is just an imagination like cold?

Everyone knows what is brightness and darkness? We can just increase or decrease the brightness. To denote the absence of brightness we say it as darkness. There is nothing as such called darkness. If so we could make darkness even darker. But we can’t make darkness even darker. This theory also makes us think whether god is just an imagination like darkness?

Everyone born in this world has some GURU in the form of Parents, Lecturers, Professors, Friends, Relatives etc. whom we obey and follow. But hardly we have seen , smelt their brains, yet we still believe them and follow their suggestions with or without our conscience. That symbolizes the Faith we have on them considering the fact that they will drive us to the right path.

That’s it.. We have arrived to a conclusion considering all these aspects into account. God is a super power. FAITH links man to god. FAITH propels us forward and keep the universe rolling.. I do strongly believe in god hoping that he showers blessings for success on all of us..
